Bring your room out of the darkness with these tips

Bring your room out of the darkness with these tips

While a bright, sunlit room is always an infinite source of joy, not every room can have floor-to-ceiling windows or directly face the sun.

So, if you want to skip the demolition or if you don't have space for more items, here are 5 tips to help you brighten your room.

CREATE CONTRAST

Opposites might attract, but when used in the right proportions, they can also give a room a bright edge. If you opt for a lot of white surfaces your space will be bright (for sure), however, if you add a touch of black to the equations your room is going to elevate.

CHOOSE A BRIGHT RUG

This can be a focal point of your room, if you choose a really bright color I promise you it will change the vibe of the room. This is going to work amazingly well if you have a dark floor.

DITCH THE HEAVY CURTAINS

Get rid of heavy, dark curtains that absorb light. Look for light fabric like cotton, linen or silk, also consider neutrals or bright colors. This will let more light into the room.

WHITE OR NEUTRAL WALLS

A dark room isn’t the place to try out a moody, dark color palette. If your walls are neutral, paint the ceiling a shade lighter to help light bounce around the room.

LAYER LAMPS

Table lamps. Desk lamps. Floor lamps. Wall lights. You name it. Whenever you think you have enough soft, warm lights, think again and go buy some more.

Implement these tips and you’ll have a beautiful, bright room in no time at all.
