Feng Shui in a Nutshui

The principles of Feng Shui in your home can enhance your Energy and Life Force - here are 6 things you can do in your own home (or office) this weekend. We’re here for it, are you?

Book a 20 minute call with us and we'll help you through it every step of the way.

Going back thousands of years to its’ roots in Chinese Philosophy, the principles of Feng Shui are used to establish harmony between the natural world and those of us who inhabit it by harnessing the Qi (chi) that exists in everything.

  1. Keep Entryways clear of clutter. This space should be easy to find and clean and clear (sweep regularly!)
  2. Find the Commanding Position of each room and orient important pieces like your Bed, Desk and Stove in this position. The commanding position is a place in the space from which you can see a clear line to the doorway but not be directly in line with it. This places you in the position to see opportunities coming!
  3. In the Kitchen, maintain cleanliness (including inside the refrigerator - note to self here!)
  4. In the Living Room, encourage conversation with seats facing each other and try to avoid seat backs facing doorways and place plants in the space to renew that vital life energy wherever possible.
  5. In the Bathroom, keep the door and toilet seat closed when not in use. With so many drains in the Bathroom (which can literally drain your flow of energy), keep the door closed and your Qi from draining out of your home!
  6. In the Bedroom, avoid storing things under your Bed. Those items can pull from your Qi so if you must store under the bed, they should be soft bedding items only. Your Bed represents you, give it the grounding place of importance that you deserve!

Bonus: Discover how the 5 Elements can exist in your own space; wood, fire, earth, water and metal. Artwork depicting Water, Metal elements in planters or mirrors, heavy grounded elements signifying Earth and plants, plants, plants everywhere are some easy top tips!
